Matty is an experienced sound engineer in both studio and live environments.
Perhaps best known for his work developing Lonely the Brave’s early sound and recordings, Matty continues to work with the band, producing an EP in 2016 and most recently producing an album which will be released in 2017.
He has also recorded and mixed tracks for alt-rock / indie bands such as Bloody Knees, Cheap Meat, Grieving, The Staycations, Standing Like Statues and singer songwriters B-Sydes and Daniel O’Dell – and regularly works with record labels such as Columbia, Hassle & This is Fake DIY, Wrong Way and Aaahh!!! Real Records.
In the live arena he has run sound for gigs and concerts in many venues across the UK. Most recently Matty worked alongside Bobby Aitken, the well-known Theatre and Live Performance Sound Designer who also designed the sound for the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games, on productions with The Dowsing Sound Collective and We Are Sound, a 120 piece choir and rock band.
With a BSc (Hons) in Audio & Music Technology, his early years recording and touring with his own bands provided the platform for him to hone his engineering skills. As an accomplished guitarist, he is familiar with working on both sides of the mixing desk & his relaxed manner can bring a calming influence to the most pressured of recording sessions. Matty has contributed articles to Sound on Sound Magazine and is also a member of the UK Music Producers Guild.
He became one of the in-house engineers at Half-ton Studios (Cambridge) in 2008 and his unassuming production style hides a striking ability to bring clarity and direction to projects under his watch.
